Force split mission location for new battery exchange?

I did a test mission this morning.  17.6 acres.  240 images.  14.7 mph.  I flew this with my Phantom 3 Pro. The plan indicated a duration of 11m 40s and 1 battery needed.  The battery I used was 4137mAh.

The battery ran out abou 90 percent of the way through the mission and it initiated a RTH and assured me I could replace the battery and resume the flight where it left off.  Once the drone landed I shut it off and pulled the battery and replaced it with another one.  I fired up the drone with the GO application running so I could check settings etc.

Then I terminated the Go App and went back to the Map Pilot Pro application and gave it a minute to re-connect to the drone.  Once connected I told the app to upload the mission which it did.

I then told it to resume the mission but it complained about some radius issue.  Now I was quite a ways away from where the mission would resume so I assumed that this must be the issue and I took a stroll over towards the area where the mission would resume.

I attempted to resume the mission and the app complained that the home point was too far away and would I like it to reset it - I said yes and it then complained that it got an error from the drone.

So I powered the drone off and loaded up GO and let go set the home point which it did with no issues.  I then terminated GO and resumed Map Pilot Pro and waited for it to re-connect which it did.  I uploaded the mission once again and then told it to execute the mission.

The moment that I told it to resume the mission where it left off, it said the second part of the flight was. complete.  The drone then took off and executed the second part of the mission autonomously except for the fact that it did not take any still images.  Once it had flown the mission pattern it returned to home as expected.

Can anyone shed any light on why these things happened?  I assume the radius error was due to my proximity to the mission resumption point since it did not exhibit that error once I got close to that point.

Why did the application say the mission was done immediately after I told it to start it?  And, finally, is there any way, when I am creating a mission plan, that I can set a point to force the drone to stop to get a new battery and resume or is that only managed under the control of the application?

Thanks!

WE are sorry to hear you are having issues with the app. It always helps to take screenshots and get the EXACT text of any warnings so we can look it up.

The corner radius thing is a known error:

https://support.dronesmadeeasy.com/hc/en-us/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=radius

If you don't allow the aircraft to land on its own things can get out of sync. You can define any corner waypoint as the restarting point if needed. This is done while the blue verification line is showing:

https://support.dronesmadeeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005940746-Manual-Restarting-Point

At any point during the flight you can hit the RTH button and the aircraft will come back and land. There will be a blue abandonment point marker where it left the flight path which it will go back to resume.

You can also set the flight timer to have it come to land after X minutes of flight. That is done in the Options Menu with the stopwatch icon.

The drone is a Phantom 3 Pro and when I first got it I tested RTH and it landed and then tipped over and broke a prop.  Ever since that day I have always done a hand catch with it even on RTH.

Does doing a hand catch screw up the sync?

Also - when I double tap and set the home point in the flight plan, is Map Pilot Pro actually setting a home point at that location? I ask because I cannot zoom in very far to set that location with any precision and many times I need to be precise as I am taking off and landing on dirt and not pavement so I use a mat for it as a home point and let Go set the home point before I run Map Pilot Pro.

And finally - Is there any way to adjust the position / scale of the orthomosaic image over the google maps that you overlay it on in your map viewer?

It misses the "landed" message from the aircraft. You can do whatever you want but you need to check the blue verification line carefully and adjust the start point if needed if you are going to do that.

The home point double tap is for planning purposes only. That gives the app a starting point for calculating the total flight distances and making the battery estimates. The actual aircraft location is what gets used in the field.

I am not sure what you mean of the scale of the map. You can zoom in and out as you normally would.

Thanks so much - Very helpful info!  Regarding the scale of the image over the map it's so that I can adjust the image to better align with the google maps.  Sometimes it's clear that the scale of the image is just slightly off and with a little bit of tweaking would match Google Maps.
