i tested with inspire 2 today. It seemed to work well but I wodenered how far away updated manuals or information was for how to use with this drone.
i did the mission in P mode on controller which worked ok but I couldn't land the aircraft. It would just hover at about 1m above ground. The only way to get it land was to go into A mode.
The new aircraft (Mavic/P4P/I2) all required user input to finally land. Just hit down on the throttle just like you would if you were manually landing. All you have to do is tap it and it will land.
If you want to land yourself, switch out of P mode and back into it and manually land. If you don't switch it back into P mode Map Pilot will miss events from the aircraft and get out of sync.

Are you wanting the i2 to land autonomously after the mission ends? I use a P3P and Map Pilot always expects the pilot to take over at some point in the descent to landing phase. This seems fine to me.
Perhaps you just need to switch from P to A back to P. That should in effect cancel the autonomous mission and give you back control.

no I want to land myself. I took control and brought it back, but when it got to just above the ground no matter how much you tried to get it to go down the craft wouldn't respond.
Sounds like maybe an avoidance issue. Was OA active?
I think you might be right about OA. It would have been on from last use of GO app.

i tried to tap down on throttle but that didn't work.
So when it is finished mapping and starts to return home is the best way to switch into A and then back to P. I assume it would just hover and you can flip it back like normal?
I'm not sure if related to the rotated images issue but the processed model was not orientated properly in the Z axis. It had a tilt so you could see the side of vertical surfaces. Have you seen this happen? It might be due to pics not taken in nadir position?
I tried again yesterday and he app could not be used. I know you have only just added inside 2 but have you done much testing?
i cached the terrain maps but onsite the app kept hanging downloading terrain tiles and calculation the flight lines.
i also had a lot of problems importing a simple kml file. It wasn't visible in the map view. But one file showed many hours later in the log file list.
then I tried to fly without terrain and it did but it didn't point the camera down so all images couldn't be used.
tird flight all photos were badally out of focus. I saw a note that it would be set to infinity when above 30m but that wasn't done. I was flying at 60m.
in the end I just fly manual flight and photos to get the job done.
We have done very little testing with it. Many of the issues you are listing though don't have much to do with the Inspire 2.
The Inspire 2 X5S is still a bit twitchy and doesn't conform to the same SDK controls that the rest of the cameras do.
The gimbal behaving correctly has a lot do do with how you have the controller, or controllers, set up. You can program C1 or C3 to reset the yaw to overcome the weird yaw issues. We had to mess around with the settings to get it to behave. You can use the Simulator feature in Map Pilot to test this and see what will happen in the field.
If the terrain files are already cached it is not attempting to download them again. You may be doing a bigger layout than your device can handle. We highly recommend using the latest iOS devices for Terrain Awareness since it is very CPU intensive.

The kml only has 6 simple polygons so shouldn't be a problem.
loading in via email is a great feature that is easy to use if it works well.
ive used the yaw reset before and I think it might be possible when I did this it interrupted the camera being pointed down. At what point during flight is it programmed to point down?
the terrain files were cached as I had tested before going to site. But it did get stuck trying to download. And after that stuck on processing. Maybe the cached tiles were deleted somehow.
i use iPad mini 4. It normally only takes a few seconds to do the terrain even when I tested in the area I was flying.
You can send us the KML if you want and we can take a look but anything with any nested features at all won't load. Use top level features only.
Map Pilot sets the gimbal to nadir at takeoff and then again at the top of the initial climb. After that, you can always steer the gimbal around as needed.
If you were able to view the terrain profile in Map Pilot then all the files were properly downloaded. It is more likely that you gave it a super large area to do and the device just couldn't handle it. Doing a Terrain Aware layout for 2000 acres probably won't work, but 100 will. It depends on a lot of factors. When in doubt, try something small to test if the data is in fact there.
iPad mini 4 should be fine.
Why is there Not a selection on the app for Inspire series of Drones? I weary about selecting for a Phantom 4 since mine is an Inspire 2
In the Map Pilot settings you are selecting the camera, not the aircraft. Since the Inspire does not have a built in camera you should be choosing the camera you are using such as the X4S or X5S.
