Determining Volumes

I intend to do mapping of quarries and their stockpiles. How accurately can these measurements be determined with maps made easy?

It's hard for me to understand how this can be done from just the vertical images. Does it help to add in any oblique images? Can known elevations at various points be added and would that help with accuracy?

Measuring volume is essentially a relative measurement. Assuming your model is accurate it just takes the differences in heights into account and totals up the changes. Adding known points won't make it more accurate since you don't care about absolute location precision, just how accurate it is relative to itself.

There is no need to collect oblique images for relatively simple forms like stockpiles. Your camera likely has a 94 degree field of view which means you are getting information at 47 degrees off of nadir.

Thanks Zane. I understand it better now.

That your system can do this is news to me. Are the volume measurements from maps made easy as accurate as those from other systems?
