Save versus open KML on Map Pilot

Hi everyone,

When I follow the instructions in this post, I see two different responses on Map Pilot for DJI (on an iOS device):

- If I download the KML file using Apple Mail, when I follow the instructions in the post I do see the "Copy to Map Pilot" option and everything works as described

- If I have my email account open on a web browser (Safari), or if I first save the KML into my iOS device (Apple Files), I can only see the option "Open in Map Pilot" instead, which actually does not load the KML into Map Pilot

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Thanks

The Files app does a few things differently and was previously not compatible. That is why that article was there since that is the approved and documented way to do it. Version 4.1.4 should address some of these issues with Files app compatibility.

Basically, a file has to be in the App's folder in order to be opened by the app so if you are saving the file save it to the app's folder.

Thanks, I did not notice there was a specific folder for Map Pilot... thanks for pointing that out.

By the way, I am already using version 4.1.4.

I am seeing that when you open it directly from the email as shown in your second image that the file goes to the list File Manager screen. Is this not what you are seeing?

Hi Zane, not exactly.

The scenario in the second image happens when I try to open the KML from an app different from the default Apple Mail app, and it actually does not work correctly.

For example, when I am using someone else's iPad to fly, I will have to open my webmail via Safari (not Apple Mail) and try to do the same process described here. In that case, iOS only gives me the "Open in Map Pilot" option (second image), and it does not transfer the KML properly to Map Pilot.

If I open the email containing the KML via Apple Mail app instead (first image), then everything runs smoothly as described in the above post.

Thanks

If you are trying to open it directly from another app it won't work because the file is in another app's folder. Try saving the file from that app to the app folder for Map Pilot so you can open it.
