You can define the area you want to cover on the site following the instuctions here:

Then this gets synced to the app.
Or you can use a KML designed on your computer which can be imported to define the survey area.
But all final layout gets handled in the app at flight time. It is always safer to make flight path definitions on site after viewing unmarked obstructions.
