Map Pilot Pro App does not open

Hello,

i am new to Map Pilot Pro. I experimented with the App on my mobile phone without using the drone. Now i installed Map Pilot Pro from Play Store on my tablet, but it does not open. The first time it askes for the location permission. The window rotates from vertical to horizontal, gets black for a short moment, but the app crashes before anything else happens.

I tried installing the apk from the website, but it shows the same behaviour.

The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2018, 10.5, model number SM-T590) with Android 10. I updated Android and reinstalled Map Pilot Pro, but nothing changed.

Map Pilot seems to be the right software for my use in more difficult terrain, but the screen on my phone is too small. Is there a solution for my problem?

So it sounds like it worked OK on your phone as far as you know but won't work on the tablet. For some reason there seems to be a lot of issues with the Galaxy Tab A.

Are you able to fly using your phone?

Hello Zane,
I did not try to fly with my phone yet, but i think it would work. I just connected the drone inside the house and it looks promising. I think i could try the next few days.
I hoped to be able to use the Galaxy Tab A. Is this a known issue?

Hello, thanks for the link. I tried all the steps, but nothing changed.
But now i reset my tablet and things are changing. I am able to open Map Pilot Pro. When i click New Mission, the message 'Important! Automated flight has an increased risk...' shows. When i click OK, the app crashes after 3 to 4 seconds. Before crashing i can move the map and zoom. I can even set points, if i am fast. As long as i don't click OK, the app doesn't crash, but i can do nothing.
Deactivating 'Use Google Maps' changes the map data but does not prevent crashing. Also deactivating other options like 'Show Nearby Mission Plans' and 'Auto Clear Image Points' doesn't change the behavior.
Is it maybe some cache or RAM issue? The tablet is running smooth beside that problem.

Yes. Before resetting the tablet, DJI Go 4 was installed prior to installing Map Pilot Pro. After resetting i installed Map Pilot Pro and didn't install DJI Go 4. Now i installed it and nothing changed. After a few seconds in the New Mission mode the app crashes.
I monitored the RAM. It doesn't change much. Before opening Map Pilot Pro there is around 1140 MB of free RAM, while in the menu around 1120 MB and while in the New Mission mode before clicking Ok around 1115 MB. After clicking OK, in the moment of crashing, around 1070 MB free RAM.
I think i tried the DJI app on the tablet with connection to the drone and it worked.

Our next release should have a lot of compatibility fixes. We were focused on getting the DJI devices to work as well as the handful of devices we have on hand. I am not sure why the Tab A is different at all but hopefully we can get it going for you.

That sounds great. Thank you very much for your help. I will try again after the next update.
If there is anything in the meantime that i can help with solving the problem, i would be happy to help. I don't know if you have the Galaxy Tab A at hand
