Map Pilot Pro can control Mini 3, but not download images

Freshly installed Map Pilot Pro 2.4.2e on a Samsung S21 Ultra, connected to the DJI controller that came with my Mini 3. Operation is mostly successful, the Pilot app connects to the drone, can display the video feed from it, and (with a little patience) was able to send the drone on a successful flight. 18 images.were captured to the drone's storage. However, when I press the "Upload to MME", Pilot gives the message "Data Transfer Error: Media download is not supported with this aircraft." Is this a known problem? I can easily download the images using the DJI Fly app's quick connect, so I can get them from the drone to the phone. However, I cannot find any way to tell Pilot to use the images that are right there on the same device. Also, the Maps Made Easy website doesn’t seem to have any way to upload the images from the flight. Is there any way it can work?

It sounds like you are doing everything right. The Mini 3 does not support the direct image transfer from the aircraft to the app for further transfer to Maps Made Easy for processing. It is best to just remove the SD card and use a computer to upload the images.

You can upload the images to Maps Made Easy by following the instructions shown here:

Thanks Zane, I manually transferred them and it seems to be working.  Here are three of the non-blocking issues I also encountered with the Mini 3:

1. Pilot app had trouble communicating with the drone, several times it said "aircraft is connected" but did not display info for it (no # of GPS satellites, etc.) and did not show UI for uploading waypoints.  I finally worked around this by closing the Pilot app, opening DJI Fly app, connecting to the drone, then switching back to the Pilot app.  That worked twice, enough for me to fly the waypoints.

2. Pilot app gave warnings that it cannot *actually* upload the waypoints, but it would fly the drone using "direct stick control" instead, which requires continuous communication between app and drone during the flight.  Is this a known limitation between the app and the Mini 3?

3. Upon completion of the Pilot app's automatic flight, the drone returned to hover 70m above its starting location, but did not descend or land.  I landed it manually.  Is this also a known issue?

1. Make sure the aircraft is outside with full view of the sky. It won't show most stuff until there is a solid GPS fix. You should always connect with the DJI app first to check things out and then fully close that before opening Map Pilot Pro.

2. The Mini 3 is Virtual Stick only. It does not have the preprogrammed waypoints feature so the app is essentially flying the aircraft. You can read more about it here: https://support.dronesmadeeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/16460429175188-Mini-3-and-Mini-3-Pro-Support

3. Please email us with the link to the flight log in Maps Made Easy and we will take a look. It should be landing but if there is something else going on it may require manual landing. Sometimes there can be issues that pop up in the Aircraft Errors panel that prohibit automated landing.
