Phantom 4 was having trouble going back to the blue dot. Running multi battery missions took some photos on its way out during one resume. Not sure why. No other apps open. I have done many smooth missions with the P3 pro.
This almost always is due to manually flying the aircraft at landing. We highly recommend allowing the aircraft to come home and get close to the ground on its own and then using the sticks to direct it in without switching out of F mode. Anytime you switch out of F mode the app will get out of sync with tracking the current waypoint.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did switch out of F mode once or twice to take control. I will avoid this in the future and let the aircraft bring itself home.

And what is the f mode?
F mode is the programmed flight mode. Most remotes that have a Mode switch will have certain positions that will need to be set to do waypoint flight. Some aircraft like the Mavic do not but you can still exit the programmed flight mode by switching to sport mode and back out which leaves programmed flight mode.
If you allow the aircraft to land on its own it won't lose sync and will go back to the blue dot.
If for some reason you have lost sync you can manually select a waypoint to start from:

Verify the waypoints by carefully inspecting the blue verification line.
