Missing images; not captured

Whilst flying a small mapping mission (400 yds x 700 yds), I noted in the first few 200 yard flight passes, images were not being captured. Several in a row and sporadic ones, meaning probably 35% of the ones I needed were never taken in 5 min flying at 3mt/sec

I aborted the mission, and used another flight app as time (daylight) was not on my side. This happened to me before and I am unable to trust that I can complete a mission successfuly despite yours being the only software i have paid for.

Please advise what could possibly cause this and how I can guarantee success.

It appears that you had tons of dropouts in your signal connection. Among the worst cases we have seen. This is a screenshot from your Flight Synch data under the Map Pilot heading on Maps Made Easy.

Black lines are bad and mean that there was basically no signal. No triggering will occur when there is no signal.

There are a couple of reasons this might happen.

One, is that it sounds like you may have had another drone related app open at the time which can cause big connectivity issues.

Two, is that you have to be able to maintain a solid RC connection to trigger the camera unless you are using Connectionless mapping mode which should be used in cases where the RC signal cannot be maintained reliably.

Thanks for the quick response. As I was in "Connectionless" mode and only 350 yards (max) from Drone at furthest point of flight, I'll have to assume another app being open was the main cause. If nothing else, it is a strange and interesting case. I just wish they wouldn't keep happening to me.

If you were in Connectionless mode at the time then you can't trust the dots that are showing in the app or the online viewer. While in Connectionless mode those dots get drawn when there is a signal from the aircraft that says it took a picture. If your RC connection was in a state of dropout then these signals would not be being received.

You will have to refer to the images and their tags to see if they were spaced as you would expect.
