Thank you for the thorough reporting. We are sorry to hear the app crashed for you. Assuming you have crash reporting enabled on your devices it will get added to the anonymized crash reporting we get from Google so we will see it. We will keep an eye out for it there. The crash information is not stored in the flight log.
There are a few known crashes in the DJI SDK relating to the video feed that have not been fixed. Or it could have been something file related given that it was part way through the flight.
When the app crashes that is an uncontrolled closing of the app so we can't save things nicely. It sounds like you handled that all well using the features that are available to you.
If you ever want to start from somewhere other than what is shown you can tap on any corner waypoint while the blue verification line is showing to start somewhere else.

The blue dot is something that is saved by the app and if the app crashes it doesn't have a chance to save it. Opening a log files KML file is just loading the flight trace. But using the Manual Restarting Point feature should be flexible enough to handle this situation.
