RTH altitude defaulting to 500m

hi there, I have a challenge which I am unable to figure out / resolve.  It seems that the default RTH altitude when using MMP is set to 500m and I cant seem to find where to change this. I tried setting the return to home altitude in the DJI app, confirmed it changed in DJI app by closing the app and reopening it , and it stayed on 200m, before switching to MMP. However when I launched the flight, it defaulted back to 500m in MMP and returned to home at this altitude.

I tried with and without terrain aware adjustment for RTH and it makes no difference.

The challenge is it takes the battery consumption in consideration for ascending to 500m every time, which causes it to RTH earlier than needed, to compensate for the battery drain of the additional altitude.  SO It triggers RTH on average at around 45-51% with not a big distance between me and the drone. Very frustrating , cause now I require more batteries to complete the mission, compared to the simulation.

When I reopen the DJI app , its again back to 500m for RTH. Seems as if MMP is overriding this setting once I use it?

Any ideas on how I can get this resolved?

Yikes. Check the settings in the DJI app. Map Pilot Pro will read that value and either use the value you have set in the DJI app or add an offset to the currently set flight height.

Try putting the Map Pilot Pro setting at 10m higher than the flight height.

Does it work for you if you are working at a lower altitude, like 60m? I would say we haven't tested trying to set it at 200m since that isn't a legal height to fly here. We will give it a look.

will try at lower values but I do some surveying at 200m altitude so dotn really want to have RTH lower than the surveying altitude.  I tried setting the RTH altidude in DJI go app to 200m as well, and the DJI app accepted it ( confirmed this by closing the app, then reopening it and checking the value again and it stays 200m) but when launcing using MPP it goes back to 500m. Even turing on the MPP setting of higher flite return (think i used 40m above flight height) still yielded the drone to rise to 500m and then RTH. if I check the dji go app again after I used MPP, its back to 500m - weird - seems like MPP is overriding the value in DJI go 4 once I launched the drone in MPP

1. Does the MPPro change the RTH Height when you connect to the drone only? (don’t need upload a flight)

2. Do you see an alert of “Would you like to override your RTH Height of ….” during pre flight checks?

     a. If so, what are the values in the message?

     b. If false, skip question 3

3. Does MPPro change the RTH Height during a NON-Terrain mission, IF you select “Keep”  when prompted with the “Would you like to override your RTH height …” alert during pre flight checks. (don’t need to take off)

    a. If you are NOT prompted with the “override your RTH height…” alert, that means your mission’s survey altitude plus your RTH height offset is equal to your current reported RTH Height.

4. What is your RTH Offset value in Settings?
