I am confused. Where are maps saved? Is there no way I can create a map on my desktop and export to my iPad? I made an intricate map, saved it on my iPad, Bought a new iPad, went to the remote site and the saved map wasn't there. No cells service. Waste of a day.
When you create a mission it is saved on the device it was created on. It does not get sent anywhere by default. If you want to send it to another devices you can do so by following these instructions:

Starting with version 4.1 which was released today you can sync Mission Plans from Map Pilot to MME and back to enable sharing between devices logged into the same account.
