So change my Gitup2 from the 170 fish eye to the 90 none fish eye lens. The focal length goes from 3 to 4.35 mm. Problem is there is no firmware or setting to change the EXIF tages to 4.35 for my model.
Im using mission planner to set up the mission so have entered the real focal length.
Is mapsmadeeasy going to get messed up because the focal length on the EXIF tag is wrong ?

We don't recommend using the GIT cameras but if you changed out the lens it should be OK to upload the images to Maps Made Easy. We use the focal length that is present in the tags as a starting point but can figure it out if it isn't correct.

Hi, When you say git cameras are you referring to that particular brand or the whole action cam go pro format style?
I know they are not great but kinda what I am locked into. If there was one in that gopro format that was notably better I would happily upgrade.
Would love to go a better / bigger camera. But that's a bigger gimbal, bigger quad, Bigger batteries that are difficult to get on planes. Just cant justify that investment at this stage.
So did another test yesterday. Heaps heaps better. Found a delay in the camera with being in time lapse so ended up with less pictures that expected. I did 2 identical flight one at 5 sec and one at 2 sec. Turns out looking at the flight log time and numbers of pictures seems to take 1.8 sec to take the picture then the 5 or 2 sec count down starts again. So a 5 sec time lapes is actually 6.8 sec. Can work around that. Will try and get the pixhawk to trigger the camera also would help.
Here is my latest effort. Really happy with the Geotiff / Google earth over lay. The 3d OBJ came out surprisingly good also I thought. Was really surprised how the overlap report showed so thin. I though I got heaps. Was set to 75% overlap.
Will do some more and keep progressing. All in all very happy with my progress with zero knowledge in a short time.

None of the action camera format cameras offer native geotagging as far as I know so they are going to be hard to deal with for mapping in general. If you are going to get into it any more we would highly recommend the P4 Advanced which offers great mapping capability for not a ton of money.
We are excited you had good results using that rig though. Good stuff.
I am using mission planner and it has a feature to geo tag the images using the log file from the flight controller. They have a app they does it. Works really well.
