Terrain Awareness Display

Hello,

Last week we flew a mission with the terrain awareness. The Inspire 1 was returning home after a low battery warning. Before it could return to home, the voltage must have dropped, and the drone started auto-landing. There was no clearing to land safely but the home location. We were able to get the drone back to us, but it was a bit more difficult with limited control. I have a few questions about the Maps Made Easy App.

1. We have updated the DJI go app low battery warning to 30%. Will the Maps Made Easy app use this updated setting?

2. Is there a way to see voltage and not just battery percentage in the Maps Made Easy app?

3. When the terrain awareness loads I can no longer see the camera icon on the bottom of the display. Is there a way to display the camera when using terrain awareness? Having the ability to see where the drone is trying to land would be very beneficial in this type of situation.

Keeping your batteries calibrated as DJI recommends is SUPER important. This is what allows the battery to know its state. If you don't do the calibration process on a regular basis this is exactly what happens.

1. Map Pilot will honor the battery warning settings you make in DJI Go.

2. You can see some battery information in the debug panel. The debug panel is accessed by tapping and holding the top status bar for 8 seconds until the panel shows. Same to hide it.

3. We are looking at ways to handle this. On smaller devices it is hard because of limited real estate but we will likely come up with something for the iPad in the near future.

I'm using an ipad pro 9.7 but when I turn on terrain awareness, it creates a box with Profile Plot and DEM options and a larger rectangle in the center with "SRTM" in it. This obscures the normal displays of Range ipad and drone battery percentages, signal strength, and number of sattelites. Just to be clear, even when I close the Options menu along the top by "pushing" up on it, the bottom row which has the profile, plot, SRTM, etc stays there and is on top of the flight status line that's normally at the top of the display. Here's a screenshot

Is there a plan to fix this UI bug? I paid extra for terrain awareness which is required for the flights I'm doing but it's very troubling to not be able to monitor these key status displays while I'm flying.

Can you let me know when this will be fixed?

That is the Terrain Awareness accessory panel. You can hide it by tapping the Terrain Awareness button again. You need to slide down on that to show the Options Menu again to do so. You don't really need to have that showing when you are flying.

Thanks for the quick response. I assumed that if I touched the Terrain Awareness icon again to turn off that display that it would also be turning off terrain awareness. So once you buy Terrain Awareness, it always uses it whether that icon is lit up or not?

The control panel for it showing doesn't control whether it is being used. You can now turn the plot display on and off using the 'Plot' button. You can turn the DEM elevation layer display on and off by pressing the 'DEM' button. The 'Profile' button calculates a new profile after the flight path parameters have been edited. You are asked if you want to use the Terrain Awareness feature on every takeoff which is what controls if the flight is using it or not.
