Volumetric Calculation and Manual GPS

Looking at performing work for gravel pits, etc. Utilizing Agisoft now and looking at cloud processing as an alternative to get past processing power issues.

We utilize manual GCP's to improve accuracy and based upon discussions with others they have found that the manual GCP's tighten up the survey enormously and improve the accuracy a lot more than simply camera GPS coordinates. However, on your info summary I note that the volumetric is not available if the photos are utilizing the manual GCP. Is this correct? If so, any chance to change that in the future? Or can one combine camera GPS with the manual GCP's?

Thanks for your help. And I really like the videos - they have been a lot of help with understanding the process and how it works.

In our system, GCPs won't actually help the relative accuracy of the model which is what is important for measuring volumes. The GCPs are mainly used to align the reconstructed model to the real world using our system.

Based on your other question, you camera sounds like it has sufficient precision to use the Camera GPS workflow and be able to make the measurements today.

We plan on adding the volume measurements to the other workflows in our next release.

Thanks - appreciate the explanation.

If I understand correctly then, the Camera GPS will provide accurate information for the volumetric but if a guy wants to tie it in to the real world the Manual GCP's add accuracy to this.

So - is it possible to get the best of both worlds? Have the camera GPS for the volumetric but then tie to the entire thing to the real world with the GCP's? Would provide likely more accurate data if exporting the file to a CAD software program?

The Camera GPS ties it in to the real world pretty well. The Manual GCPs workflow was intended to be used with imagery that doesn't have location tags and therefore doesn't take any present GPS tags into account. It isn't possible to get the "best of both worlds".
