Flying in china

To have an app show position accurately in China you have to either register it with the government, get some special information and jump through a million hoops in Chinese or you can do what most of these other companies are likely doing which is use converters which are available on the internet. From what we understand, using this unauthorized information is pretty illegal and we don't want to get on the bad side of the Chinese government.

We have found nightmare stories about companies getting banned from doing business in China if they don't follow the rules. We are a small company and don't have the resources to navigate through the registration process and can't afford to operate illegally there.

If you want to figure it out for us, have at it! We'd love the help.

Yes,but now I use thirdparty maps,and import kml files,so I can fly with mapilot,but I dare not pilot with the terrain fiction ,cause I am afraid that the terrain was not from the right place.

And there's another issue,that I can't open kml files from email or other sources directly,I have to move the kml file to the mapilot file folder,with the file app on my iPad.
And then open the app,and open the kml file in it.thats inconvenient.

You should be able to open the KML files directly from your email or AirDrop. Scroll through the available apps that you are presented with to find Map Pilot in the list. Sometimes it is all the way to the right. This is another topic though so please either start a new thread or email us.

We have no way of testing things in China. Please email us if you are interested in becoming a beta tester for any new features related to this.

That's great! I am pleased to test it.

And to fly in china,it's better to add google basemap.The base map from chinese company was at a very low resolution in the wild,and that's where we use drone to survey the most.

what i care the "fly in china" is the terrain data should be from the right position.

With the google imagery,and the right terrain data,we can easily fly in anywhere.
