Feature request

Hi,

After using the autopilot app for 10 test flights with the matrice 100 the following are a list of feature requests.

  1. Glitch with RC signal fix. The radio signal jumps around a lot even when it's close the the drone. Signal strength goes as low as 60 percent and when the same distance away in the DJI go app its full signal strength.

  2. It's winter so it would be nice to see the battery voltage and temperature.

  3. It would be nice to be able to put in different focal lengths to plan the mission. This is for using lenses from rage cams or peau production ls for ndvi mapping.

  4. When setting up the flight polygon it would be good if the fastest flight route was loaded. Example 5 lines instead of 8.

  5. Set camera ISO option

  6. Eliminate altitude slider and just enter numbers

  7. Flight speed adjustments depending on camera ISO.

  8. The ability to create polygon closer than 50m together for small flights.

  9. The ability to set camera trigger locations based on GPS rather than distance

  10. Terrian following

We are limited by what is available in the DJI SDK and can only report the numbers that are available.

  1. Make sure you are pointing at the drone and have your antennae set properly. Other than that, we can't do anything to make the connection signal more stable.

  2. We don't have access to these numbers.

  3. Map Pilot is designed for use with DJI cameras that can be triggered properly to maintain appropriate overlap. We can't trigger those other cameras so we don't offer FOV calculations for them. A lot more goes into spot size calculations than just FOV and it would get messy.

  4. It is adjustable with the two finger rotate gesture so the user can do what is appropriate.

  5. The ISO setting moves with the auto exposure. We will only ever support auto exposure because maps made with fixed exposures rarely turn out well in processing in any but the most uniform survey areas.

  6. That is how we had it originally an no one liked it.

  7. We don't have access to the camera's ISO or exposure times or we would.

  8. Done in the next release which was submitted a week ago.

  9. The DJI Go app works well for this. We are not trying to reproduce what they have already enabled.

  10. Working on it.

Great support you guys are awesome. I have a couple comments below.

  1. I was refering to simply changing the x3 lens so the triggering is exactly the same. Just unscrew the current lens and screw the new one in.

  2. fingers works well just can be a pain to use in small areas.
Can we have both options slider or manual number input?

9.I was refering to setting each trigger location based on a waypoint for building the map. That way it's less prone to error than distance based. Realizing to do this it would take a few hundred waypoints for the average map.

  1. Interesting. We haven't seen those. Erring on the high side (like 80-90%) should probably provide 60-70% or so. Check the math on our Flight Planner page.

  2. It was too clunky and took up more space. You can do fine adjustments on the slider by tapping the left or right half.

  3. It would still need to be managed from the app and would suffer from the same issues. The DJI SDK only allows 100 waypoints to be added so it can't be handled that way for a map of reasonable size.

Also, will it support the DJI thermal camera when released?

Maybe... We know very little about it. We will be one of the few dealers for it but it is unknown whether DJI will add SDK support for it. They haven't added X5 camera support yet so it is hard to say.
