Ground offset - Volume Measurement

Hello :)

Im pretty new here and im failing to understand how to use the ground offset when i want to measure a stockpile if I even should use it ?

Lets say i want to measure 3-6 stockpiles in one flying over a quarry -
Where is the best place to take off from?
How should i use the ground offset for best result?

Bonus question :P
How do you calculate the void when you dont know the density of the material ?
Do you consider the possibility for users to label each stockpile with a material tag? Could be nice

There is no need to use the Ground Offset unless your piles are super huge. As long as you are flying 5-6X higher than the highest point and are using 80% overlap it should be fine. We always recommend using at least 80% overlap when you care about the accuracy of the 3D models. For measuring stockpile volumes this is all you care about.

The void is not the void inside the pile. The void is a measurement of the air open air above the surface inside the measurement polygon between the surface and the peak height. This value can be used the measure the volume of a pit.

I will do some testing tomorrow.

Hello again :)

I did some testing today where i measure each cubic meter and put it in two small piles.
Then i made a map and measure the two piles but it does not match the exact amount ?

The map is called "Testing 4".
Could you have a look what i did wrong if any ?

Make sure you are using lots of points to draw your measurement polygons. 20 points for a simple pile would be good, not 4.
