GeoTiffs are raster images. DXF and DWG files are for vector (line and shape) data. DXF and DWG files are not appropriate file formats for storing large amounts of pixel data. That is what rasters are for.

Thanks heaps, I am obviously not a CAD person...the client is an architect using REVIT and works in DWG etc. How do I convert????? or do they need to use a different program??

You or they can use other software for feature extraction and conversion to vector and subsequent delivery in various formats including DXF/DWG.
