App freeze

Aircraft: P3pro (1.4.10)
iPad Mini3 running iOS 8.4
RC: 1.3.20

Was flying a programmed 2 battery mission, which was looking like ending up a 3 battery mission due wind.
I bailed on the run by initiating RTH with battery @ 45% (they were long runs with the craft 1.4km away at furthest point).
App threw out the abandonment point and craft returned uneventfully.
Battery was changed, P3p relaunched and mission restarted again uneventfully.
Aircraft finished the leg it was on and started the next leg,
When aircraft was approximately adjacent the abandonment point of the previous run, app froze with camera point at horizon rather than Nadir. I waited a little and initiated RTH, Aircraft came home, as it started descending I closed MapPilot and opened DJI Go to get eyes and telemetry which worked fine.

My first pondering was perhaps the .iPad overheated but DJI Go launched flawlessly and ambient temp was only about 32c.

Thought, ideas?

We haven't heard of this happening before. 32 C is pretty warm and it could have been a temporary overheating of the iPad. Map Pilot, along with most drone related apps, is working pretty hard to provide the video feed and even when it isn't that warm out it the device can get warm. Our more northern users have complimented us on using their device as a hand warmer for them while they are standing around mapping...

Technically the camera shouldn't have been point at the horizon on the way to the beginning of the flight path at all so it is likely that something else was already going on.

You did all the right things. It sounds like there was an error either in the device itself or the aircraft. It could be Map Pilot, but for the most we are just receiving data at that point.

I've done several mapping missions in 40-45c but none as long as this.
Just to clarify, the screen image froze on the horizon image after it had resumed mapping normally and had finished the leg after the abandonment point and commenced another, I've confirmed that it was capturing in Nadir at this time.
I'll try again in the cool of the morning (bugger because I prefer around noon) and I'll report back.

Re-flew the Mission this morning with about 26-27c ambient flawlessly on 2 batteries. Still used a manual bailout at just over half way (slightly less wind) 2nd battery triggered battery level RTH just after the last shot.

Just had another app freeze. This time it was on a very small survey.
I'd had a message just after attempting to upload the mission saying there was a sd card error. I landed, reformatted the card, changed battery and reattempted. This time the mission uploaded and commenced without issue.
As the aircraft was near the end of it's first run the app froze and the picture image was again a horizon image on the ground.
The aircraft was almost overhead at this point and I saw it made the turn and commence the next run, the aircraft was clearly visible the whole path so I let it continue.
At the end of the mission the aircraft returned to home and I actually let it self-land for the first time ever as I could see it was lining up perfectly on my take-off pad (probably landed 15cm from center!
Unfortunately there were no images captured after the app freeze.
