Mapping a 600 acre landfill with my P4 Pro v2. Flying at 380' with overlap of 80/80 and terrain awareness. First 2 battery changes were fine, third change gave me the waypoint message, so I ended up breaking project into thirds. Is that the recommended workaround?

I am not sure what message you are describing. We either need the exact text or a screenshot to be able to help. It is possible that you were trying to load things before the red triangle was showing again. This usually means that the GPS thought it was somewhere super far away like 0,0 coordinates. The app won't let you load 6000 miles worth of waypoints.
After changing the battery out and connecting to the UAV, I received the message "Mission Upload Attempt Failed, the total distance of waypoints is too large". The red triangle is visible near the upper right of the splash screen.
It looks like you have some partial flight done already. Please make sure that is synced so we can see what is going on. The error that is being reported is coming directly from the aircraft or DJI SDK. It is not one we report.
