Location Maps do not currently have the same edge trimming capabilities.
I've figured out how to trim maps manually using the polygon tool and have successfully set it up for public viewing.
However when I create a location using the map as an overlay, the trim annotation isn't applied and I can see no way of trimming within the location.
Public hosting and public annotation view are enabled.
Do I need to use automatic trimming to achieve a trimmed overlay?

Will this feature be added soon?
This is not currently planned as a feature.
I was just revisiting location maps and ran into this issue. Apparently no will to have the location map display the map layer as manually trimmed ? The wow factor of nicely layered progress imagery kind of goes out the window a bit with random edges. This must be a lot of work to implement I'm guessing?
I know that this is an old comment but has there been any update on trimming location layers? Location maps are very important to our ability to do map comparisons over time but it is also important that I be able to do rather precise trimming of the map to remove private properties from the map. Folks don't seem to mind the low-res base map images of their property but are not happy with the high-res maps that show more detail. It would seem logical that any public view of a map should have the same trimming, whether automatic or manual.
Lastly, am I correct that only a map that has NOT been automatically trimmed can be manually trimmed?
Single maps that have been automatically trimmed can also be manually trimmed.
OK, I managed to get the trimming to work by using the correct tool (polygon, not polyline). So now I have a perfectly trimmed, shareable map that is stored by you for public consumption. I don't need to trim a location map. I need for the trimmed map to be available in the map selection window of the location page. If an object exists, whether static or dynamically derived, and is referenceable, then it's no great technical challenge to re-reference it in another context. Is there anything that we can do to persuade someone to look at this possibility?
