Generally flying higher will cover ground faster. You can also adjust the amount of time allowed for each flight in the settings.

maximum flight speed and screens

2 things
1. can the max flight speed slider show the speed as the ball moves (2m/s to 15m/s is a bit vague)
2.Is it possible to alter the speed while in the create new mission screen, if you come out to change the speed you loose the mission

1. This is already done for the next version.
2. It is not possible to alter the max speed from the layout screen. There are a few things that will adjust the speed accordingly for you. These things include the framing speed limit of the camera/SDcard, light conditions, overlap (related to framing speed), and altitude (related to overlap and camera framing).
You can manually adjust the speed using the sticks if you want without switching out of F mode.

as I will be flying a p4, everything except the speed should be standard, when planning a mission I always try to get under the 2 battery mission by adjusting the height and rotating the route, but sometimes by altering the speed I can get more photos which would produce a better survey?
