Concave Shapes not possible

Hi;

Is it actually possible to make Concave surveys by using the P4P ?
Using convex shapes only is leading to loose the battery enenergy and time over unwanted areas.
Any future expectation to integrate this feature with map pilot ?

The P4P, as with any aircraft, will fly wherever you tell it to fly.

The ability to draw and fly simple concave shapes are not really the issue. The question really is where do you draw the line for automated planning. Convex can get REALLY complex.

For output model accuracy reasons, we think the ability to rotate the primary flight direction orthogonal to the prevailing wind direction is important. We are looking at ways of doing it while maintaining this ability.

If you don't care about accuracy and don't care about flying across the wind, our Linear Mission planner can be used to create all sorts of complex (concave) shapes.

Supposing there is no wind and we would like to execute a concave shape for saving batteries and times for big concave areas, so; can map pilot app grant us such option like dronedeploy app ?
( I tried DD app with concave shapes ability and i am totally satisfied with the results)

Realy like your app and using it since nearly one year

Doing concaves shapes would be realy usefull for a lot off people I think. Drone Deploy allow it and DJI Gs Pro allow it too. Can't you allow it and just put a warning message about the wind in the app when the user do it?

Since we process a lot of outputs created by all sorts of apps, we know that there is a big difference between the quality of data taken in a concave shaped survey area vs a convex one. Small polygon incursions are generally OK but when you starting laying out crazy shapes to capture the fidelity of the rendered model suffers greatly.

It is easy to lay out crazy flight paths if you don't care or have any stake in how the processed data turns out...

As noted previously, we are looking into it and if we come up with something that makes good data we may offer it.

Hello: An L shape is also concave and sometimes there are strong reasons to want fly concave shapes... avoid an obstacle or overflying private property, for example. So it is not always a matter of getting the most robust network. I think you have taken the simple way which is to create a convex hull and allow adding more vertices, but in my opinion it is much more convenient the way it works in the GS Pro app. Let user set the shape he wants to fly.

User is supposed to understand if the boundary shape weakens the dataset structure and can choose to reinforce it with more ground control.

Jose: An L shape is easily and optimally designed using our Linear Flight planning feature.

The user understanding what this does to the data would be nice but if we let people hack up their flight areas we would spend the entire day doing support emails explaining why it didn't turn out well and issuing refunds!

Not that we actually recommend doing it but concave survey area layouts are available in 3.1.0 which was released today.
