DJI lock in Map Pilot Pro

I have a Phantom 4 Pro which I previously successfully flew a Map Pilot Pro mission at a site that has a 50 foot AGL restriction due to its (not very close) proximity to a small local airport. Yesterday tried running the same flight (after LAANC approval) and MPP would not allow the mission due to a lock on restricted airspace. When I click on more info, it routes me to the DJI fly safe site. I attempted an unlock through DJI, however their GEOZone map does not indicate any flight restrictions, so I'm unable to select an area on their map. The DJI Go4 app allowed me to take off at the site but not MPP. Previously at this site DJI allowed me to do a self unlock by signing their waiver. This may explain why DJI Go4 would allow takeoff, so there appears to be a glitch in running the MPP app. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Map Pilot Pro will display the No Fly Zones and show you what you do and don't have unlocked. Map Pilot Pro will help you request unlocks. Map Pilot Pro will not prevent you from taking off, the aircraft is what does that.

Map Pilot Pro has nothing to do with LAANC approval and has no way of knowing whether you have it or not. Map Pilot Pro actually has zero to do with whether or not you can take off. The DJI no fly zone database that is in the aircraft makes that decision. It keeps track of what you do and do not have access to fly in. When you go to the FlySafe website to unlock the zones the authorizations you have are tied to your DJI account. Then you need to open the DJI app and log in with your DJI account while connected to the internet so your most current authorizations will be synced to the aircraft. Then based on the state of the zone unlocks that are available in the aircraft it will make decisions on whether or not to let you fly from that location. There does seem to be some difference between manual and waypoint flight but DJI doesn't really spell that out.

It sounds like maybe your authorizations with DJI have expired.

I have had the same problem in the past.  In an area that was next to a small airport that was not on DJI's current map.  The P4P I was using even had geofencing completely disabled by parameters.  I could take off without restriction in DJI Go4.  But Map Pilot, after uploading the mission, would not take off due to "airspace restriction". FWIW, Drone Deploy would also not allow takeoff.  So, something in the underlying sdk handshake was throwing a wrench in the works.  I captured the imagery manually which was a pain but worked out.  I now have an Evo2 Ent. to avoid that mess in the future.

My point is, it may not supposed to happen, but in some circumstances, the SDK app gets confused while DJI Go4 happily allows flight.

Here's a new twist on my MPP install as of mid-late August, 2022. The DJI fly zone unlock request bar appears where I am in a remote spot with absolutely no flight zone restrictions. Yet it still appears and blocks my mission execution. I tried to play along anyway and request an unlock, but it doesn't respond. I am already registered with appropriate hardware registrations in DJI's Fly Safe website, but still no response. It appears to me that DJI simply doesn't want MMP to fly missions anymore with my Air 2s.  By the way, It did work fine (no DJI interference) about a month ago. Go figure!!??

Have you checked the FlySafe website to see if there are any new zones? Fires can have HUGE keep out zones and this is the season for that.

If that isn't the case, when was the last time you synced the flight zones with the DJI app? If there is something in the aircraft telling it there are restrictions it won't take off regardless of it showing up in Map Pilot Pro or not.

Thanks Zane for that suggestion. I just checked again in DJI's Fly-Safe and there are no restrictions in the current area (area code 30571).  Also the DJI Fly App will let me fly with no problem. I also checked into Aloft(Kittyhawk) and BeforeUFly (part of Aloft) and checked my area. Oddly enough, it says "Clear for Takeoff" here, and then just below that it says I am in a "wilderness area", which would seems odd, as I am in a long-established residential area. It also seems to be a self-contradiction since that would make drone usage illegal.

I don't want to take up your time with these external apps that are not part of your scope, but I am adding more layers of confusion for myself the more I research this. I am a relative newbie to mapping, so no need to reply. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks Zane

There is definitely a class of no-fly zone that does not allow waypoint flight we have not actually figured out if this is to noted anywhere in the DJI system. It doesn’t sound like this would fall under that categorization. All we can do with Map Pilot Pro is tell it to take off. Whether the aircraft will do so or not depend solely on the no fly zone database and unlocking status. We wish we had a better answer than that sometimes.

Thanks Tudor. It does seem to be isolated to certain waypoint/mapping type missions versus FPV. Maybe somebody out there is not so comfortable with your platform's excellent reputation and bargain pricing, so it needed to be messed with. No worries. You didn't say that; I did!  Thx
