Second flight fails

Hi Zane

Still having multiple issues with flights, even when steering clear of manual adjustments. I've been following your instructions from the last post but am still getting a flawless first flight and then the second flight it stops 40m from take-off. There is something going on and I am not manually trying to land it. If you look at the logs the first flight landed on it's own regardless of what your log is showing. The second, third fourth and fifth all had to be brought back. This has not always been the way with Map Pilot Pro. I've been able to manually bring the drone back and fly second third and fourth missions without any issues. Please look into this further, I've completed many missions successfully with this app, but something changed 5 months ago when I originally posted. Please help your app is great and I want to keep using it but I can't justify it if I can't get a simple flight done. Thanks as always for your help, and I look forward to your response.

I am looking at your synced missions and I don't see any recent flights that succeeded on the first flight but wasn't able to start on the second. Please share the link to the affected flight so we can take look.

I do see a few flights that the aircraft seems to just go out and then stop. We will take a look at it. There have been some changes to the Virtual Stick controls lately.

Was it windy at all while you were flying?

Thanks Zane

Those were attempts to continue the mission. I finally had to give up and start a new mission which did work. Once it does the fly out 40m and hover I have to abandon the mission and start from scratch. We're monitoring a laydown pad and just use the same mission over and over, could this potentially be the issue? For the second mission I used the kml to try and fill in the gaps from the first mission I was able to get both flights down without a problem. I'm starting to think re-using old missions might be the issue. There was no wind to speak of the day we were flying. Thanks for looking into this Zane. I'll try and fly again over the next few days but only using the kml boundary. Have a great day.

this is what i replied on friday but to the no reply email

I tried to do a flight today and had nothing but problems. First flight was successful then everything after that was a complete fail. Even tried a new mission to fill in the gap and it did two fly aways and the 40m away and stop. Please help as mentioned I've had multiple flights with no issue whatsoever, but ever since my initial post in October there has been nothing but problems. I'm to the point now where the last thing I could try is downgrade my IOS to the pre october version and see if that works or look for an alternative.

It wouldn't be the iOS version.

For your most recent weird flight, did you check the blue verification line before taking off and it looked as it should?

You could try using a different mobile device if you have one. Since you are doing Virtual Stick controlled flight with the Mini 2 it could be an issue with CPU availability. It looks like you are using an iPhone mini which we don't have a lot of experience with.

We are still looking into it.

Yes blue line everything was as it should be. Same phone Iphone 12 mini i've been using for the last two years. Another team member has an SE and he's experiencing the same issue. We did try with a samsung phone the other day but had connection issues and had a fly away right off the bat.

Hi Zane

Just following up on the last few comments. I noticed last night that you guys had an update 2 days ago. I was trying DroneLink with limited success, drone wasn't maintaining course. So we went back to my old faithful MapPilot Pro, yesterday. Happy to report we didn't encounter the same issues. I did however notice the drone was having trouble returning to the blue dot when continuing the mission. Patiently waited and it did continue the mission, flawlessly after that. Thanks so much happy to be able to utilize MapPilotPro again.

Thank you for the update. We made a lot of pretty big changes in how missions are resumed to allow for flights to be resumed in the air. Hopefully things are settling back down. We don't tend to make changes like this after peak season has started.

Would you care to elaborate on the "trouble" it had returning the blue dot?

Rather then flying directly to the blue dot it flew south of the point and then corrected and went to the point

We see that but we also see that you were getting some wind warnings in your log file. You need to keep an eye on your Aircraft Errors panel for important issues.

You were getting a lot of this:

 dji_check_camera_encrypt_error_reason / dji_check_fc_strong_gale_reason

Here's a snip of what I'm talking about. Seemed to correct on the third and fourth flight

Yeah. We see that. It looks like it was fighting the wind trying to get back to the starting point slowly. 30 mph winds and Virtual Stick controls are not a good mix...

There was definitely less wind at the starts of flights 3 and 4.

This is all from AirData by the way.
