Coping with hills

Can someone please tell me the easiest way to map a field that is on an incline, and is it possible to alter the height whilst flying.

Dealing with elevation changes can be difficult. We recommend taking off near the highest point in the survey area if possible. If that can't be done, they you will need to fly a bit higher (30m for 30m hills) and use more overlap.

Our next release that comes out this week will make the using more overlap part of that obsolete since we have introduced a ground level offset. This means that if you are taking off at the bottom of a 30 meter hill and want to use 70% overlap, you can put in a 30 meter ground offset and it will optimize the 70% for the tops of the hills instead of the plane where the aircraft takes off.

Our next release after this 2.0.0 release will have a new feature called Terrain Awareness that will use NASA satellite data to get the ground level along the flight path and keep the aircraft a constant height above the terrain.

As of today version 2.1.0 is available with the Terrain Awareness feature. This feature keeps the aircraft a uniform distance from the ground to keep the GSD and overlap consistent. It enables high quality mapping of areas that are not flat.
