Google Earth KMZ

Sorry to revive this old discussion - I don't see how to reply to older posts...

The KMZ option is super interesting! I have been successful with importing models but they *do* float high. I'm in WI which is typically 700 above sea level. I can almost drop the model down onto the ground if I adjust relative altitude to -150m... but that is the maximum adjustment.

Could there be a way to ask for a nearby known survey point to capture a known elevation data properly? I'm thinking something super easy like a numeric input box. Even if it is within 10f accuracey it would be an improvement.

If it was off by that much it is likely that you did not use a Ground Reference image with your dataset which will get it much closer.

The GPS derived elevations are always going to be off. Sometimes by quite a bit.

I think if you dig around in the file the offset is in there. You have to unzip and rezip it to do that though.

I could swear I included the ground reference image, perhaps I missed it. I shall double-check this next time I submit.

204 images in and 204 images included in the output tells me there was no Ground Reference image. Usually there will be one less and a red dot on the overlap report showing the takeoff location. The GPS on the Mavic isn't great.
