Hi,
I am looking at a way to fly a linear mission with a tilted camera (e.g. 45 degrees) AND flying side-way so that the images are captured perpendicular to the line.
Let me explain the reason for this. This is or a seashore rockwall, for 3Dmodel mapping. Photogrametry processing to obtain point clouds that will be merged with Bathymetric data.
Other than doing it on a manual flight, I haven't found a way to have a planned mission that would allow this.
I can see that it is possible to plan a linear mission and adjust the gimble angle on MAP pilot. So that is great! Only feature missing is to capture perpendicular to the line rather than straight ahead.

Would MAP Pilot allow such a function?
Yes, that is possible. Just use the left stick yaw control and the value will stay throughout the flight.
I will warn you that images collected with sideways flight should not be uploaded to MME for processing. The rolling shutter and sideways motion creates non-rectangular images.

Other option, that I could add I suppose, could be to stop at each image taken. I see that option is available in DJI GS Pro software (take image at waypoints rather than on the fly so the drone stops). But is that something I can set in MAP Pilot?
Yet other one would be to fly slow maybe?

Most aircraft only allow you to upload 100 waypoints to them so the stop and image approach would only allow 100 images so we never added that. It also takes forever to fly doing that.
Flying slower is your best bet if you MUST fly sideways.

Copy that on the ability to stop and capture limitation. I will give all this sideway/slow speed option with tilted gimble a try shortly. We have some wild weather down under at the moment so confined to work indoors...
