Loss of DEM colors when zooming in

Hey Folks, how might I retain the color legend when I zoom in on the map?

The DEM is generated at a resolution that is 1/4 of the resolution of the GeoTiff. This corresponds to 2 zoom steps. This is why when you zoom all the way in to the maximum zoom level allowed by the visible map layer the elevation layer will disappear. There is no way to change this.

OK, maybe that's not the best "wording", as the legend remains, but I lose the the map elevation coloring (when I zoom in).  That's better.....
