Traditional photogrammetry

Can the images and data collected be used for traditional photogrammetric compilation? Plan and DTM. Is AT involved?

What images and data? The images collected using Map Pilot have GPS coordinates recorded in their EXIF tags. Maps Made Easy generated GeoTiff files are provided in the WGS84 projection. The DEMs are also in WGS84 with float meters as the output.

If you have questions on what the various outputs are capable of you could create an account and run the sample data through the system to see what is provided.

What I am wondering is if we could take the images and put them in a softcopy system and compile them in 3D with traditional photogrammetry to make a planimetric file and a DTM? Would we have to perform analytical triangulation prior or is that done with the data we have from the drone?

We have successfully created soft copy stereo projects using the images collected with the app. What software are you using? We have run it through ERDAS and Summit Datem so I could talk you through those two. Biggest issue will be the camera if it has radial distortion as the output stereo data just doesn't work but the inspire is pretty decent

Alex: Thanks for jumping in. We have heard that the radial distortion in the lenses makes traditional triangulation techniques hard/impossible. We have found that the X5 is much flatter and requires much less dewarping than the X3 camera.
