The obstacle avoidance does work but the behaviors in various situations are still pretty undefined. If it comes across an obstacle, it will stop and go to the next waypoint. We haven't actually seen it avoid an obstacle and make it to its current target waypoint.
This will almost certainly be an evolving issue as DJI fine tunes the avoidance software and applies it to the waypoint flights.
