Model Dimensions

Is there a feature to add dimensions (linear versus volumetric) to a 3D model?   

The idea is to map a roof with all the mechanical equipment and be able to locate/dimension where each piece is on the roof without having to manually climb on the roof and use a tape measure and laser.
