There can be a lot of weird issues that come up when trying to have two apps running at the same time that are connected to the same external device.
Two things to try:
1. Once Map Pilot is open, unplug the Lightening connector and plug it back in. This will force the connection.
2. Close the DJI Go app by double clicking the device's Home Button and swipe up on the DJI Go app to fully close it. This will free up the connection for Map Pilot.
