Hi there, yesterday i use the Map Pilot app again after my 20 days vacations and i found it keeps crashing all the times once my Phantom 4 is in the air, before that i was very happy with the app and their results, i have been using it for months. Right now I have no problems with programming area, downloading images, terrain aware profile or open new projects but once i start flying either it crash the app in the middle of the flight or it doesnt take pictures (sd card is working fine). I remove the app from my Ipad Air 2, download it again from App Store and reinstalled but the problem is still there, it keeps crashing the app.

Make sure all other drone related apps are FULLY closed to keep it from competing for resources. Also, sometimes a full system and mobile device reboot will clear up these issues. Another thing you can do is make sure you are using a genuine Apple cable that is in good condition (no black marks or frayed ends).

I have had this happen oh so much, especially when using slower devices. I now just use the fastest device possible and iPad mini 4 seems to be coping with me while using a inspire 2.
I just had this happen multiple times with a Phantom 4 Pro. I flew last week with no issues, and nothing has changed. Iphone 6, iOS 10.2.1, Map Pilot 2.5.3, P4Pro- up to date Firmware on drone and remote. The Map Pilot app closes between about 3 minutes and 7 minutes into the flight. In addition, if I try to take over manual control at that point, the joysticks do not operate properly- it only flies in one direction manually, perhaps coincidentally or not- parallel to the mission flight path. Hitting RTH on remote functions correctly though.
Flights last week included missions of a similar duration, and longer in fact. No updates since that time that I'm aware of.
Also- I did kill all running apps prior to flights, phone in airplane mode, tried restarting the phone...all to no avail. The phone has ~6gb of available memory.
This is really frustrating. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've got more flights scheduled tomorrow.
Today is first time I use Map Pilot because it has better options that Pix4D, but sadly I have the same problem described here, after 5 o 7 min flying on mission, the app crashed alone (it happened always with 3 missions). So, I enter to the app again and I can see that the drone continue following the mission but it stop to take pictures (just fly following waypoints). I have Phantom 4 Pro with latest firmware on RC and Aircraft. Iphone 7 Plus IOS 11.0.3, with Map Pilot 2.6.4.
Please give a solution because it is a terrible problem with their payed app.
As is noted in the following article which is linked to in numerous forum posts you really have to be careful with using older devices.
Available storage on the device has nothing to do with it crashing. It is all about the CPUs ability to keep up.
Thanks for your quick answer, but as you can see in my post, I have Iphone 7 PLUS with the last Apple CPU available. So I dont understand why you see old devices?

If you have the iPhone 7 Plus and have a ton of other apps open including DJI Go and other drone related stuff it is almost guaranteed to crash. The references to older devices was for the other posters.
I ended up getting a new iPad mini and just devoting it entirely to drone operations, abandoning use of my phone. This seems to have fixed the issue, I've had no crashing issues since doing this. I'm still careful to kill other open apps, such as DJI GO prior to a Map Pilot mission. My general workflow is:
Connect iPad to remote, power on drone & remote, power on iPad, run through my pre-flight checklist, open DJI Go & check for any errors or calibration issues,wait for good GPS signal, close and kill DJI Go, open Map Pilot, load mission, etc...
Arturo: Is your device getting really hot during operation? If it is, this could be the cause of the crashing. When the iOS device gets too hot it will shut down apps that have large CPU loads.
Make sure you are not operating in the sun. Airflow over a hot iOS device will help but following the tip at the top of this page will keep things cooler longer.
The next version of Map Pilot that gets released will have an auto clear feature to clear out image points older than a minute to keep the GPU happy.
