Official comment
You don't need to have your aircraft connected to save a mission. Make sure you have the appropriate camera selected in the settings. Double tap where you plan on taking off or have a connection to the aircraft with a GPS fix. If you are connected to the aircraft but don't have a GPS fix (red triangle showing) you won't be able to plan a mission. You either need to have the purple dot or the red triangle showing to plan and save a mission.
