Map Pilot Pro now incompatible with Android device

Following a routine update of the Android operating system on our Samsung Tab7 Lite tablets Map Pilot Pro no longer works.  See attached screen shot from the Google Play Store when attempting to update the version of Map Pilot Pro.  Can you please advise how to remedy this.

Thanks

There are some Android devices that were exhibiting really high crash rates. We can't run ads for our apps if the overall crash rate is really high so we had to remove some of the most problematic devices.

We hope to reenable these devices soon.

In the meantime, you can download them most recent APK from our site:

Hi Zane,

Thanks for that.  I have installed MPP via the APK file.  The issue now is that the File Manager function of MPP no longer has access to the file storage on the tablet.

When I tap on the Import button (in File Manager) to load a KML file I get a message saying 'Permission denied'.

I have checked the permissions of MPP in the tablet's settings and files/storage are not listed as permissions that can be enabled.  Location, phone and microphone were the available options.  I was prompted to allow location when first starting MPP.

Any ideas about what I need to do?

Thanks.

We are not seeing that on our test devices. I just did a couple of test installations with the most recent APK and if we hit the Import button it asks us for permission to access the local files.

Can you please send us screenshots of exactly what you are seeing?

Please delete any and all versions of Map Pilot Pro that you have and try installing it again fresh using the 1.3.0b download. Please let us know if this problem is still occurring.

Usually on a fresh installation it will ask you if you want to give it permission on the first time you hit "Import", not just say denied.

Hi Zane,

I deleted previous installation and installed again using the APK file (version 1.3.1b).  Installation seemed ok - there were no prompts regarding app permissions.

When opening MPP for the first time I was prompted to allow location but no other permissions.

When I go to File Manager and tap on 'Import' I get a 'permission denied' error (see image 4).

Cheers,

Scott

Do you have any other file manager apps or anything out of the ordinary installed that may make your file manager screen require extra permissions that we are not requesting?

What about SD cards or USB storage devices? We are not asking for permission to view external devices.

Hey Zane, referring to the comments here, I am having the same issue with "Permission denied" on my galaxy tab active 3. Permission settings for the tablet do not have any options for file/storage, and upon freshly installing the app I am not asked to give permission for anything other than location services. I tried installing from the apk on this site and through the play store. Thanks for any help in advance.

Thank you for the screenshots. We are really trying to figure this out. We have a few Android devices we test with and a bunch of DJI remotes and we can't reproduce this on any of them... It is clearly a problem though.

Can you please tell us what version of Android you are running?

Do you have any other file manager apps or anything out of the ordinary installed that may make your file manager screen require extra permissions that we are not requesting?

Do you have any SD cards or USB storage devices connected?

Surely. No SD Card or anything else plugged into the tablet. I am running android 13 software version T570XXS4EWB1/T570OXM4EWB1. I appreciate your help!

I just did the most recent android update on a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

This is the software versions that are currently installed on the tablet.

There are no other file manager programs that require permissions on the tablet

Hey Zane,

Is there any update on this?

I was just testing out the tablet and on the free version it allowed me to import files. But when I logged into my account it prompted me to reinstall the app.

I reinstalled through the apx file and now the permissions are being denied again.

Thanks,

That is interesting and could lead to a fix. What version were you using when it worked and what version are you using now that it doesn't?

There are a few different ways to import files so be sure to do it the same way all the time. Some ways seem to work better than others.

I was using the previous version for Map Pilot Pro when the file import worked. Then when I signed into that version it prompted me to update that version. I then followed the link above to download the apk file.

I import kml from the file manager and import button. Previously this has worked every time.

I also just tried to to import the kml from an email. This also didn't work and nothing happened when it opened Map Pilot Pro

Have you tried copying the file into the Map Pilot Pro app folder before importing it?

Hey Zane,

How do you do that? There is no folder for the app on the tablet for me to copy it into.

I normally have a kml folder and import the files from the import button.

Cheers,

Hi Zane,

Has there been any update on this? My app is updated to the most recent version and still does not have the ability to add storage permissions. Effectively, I cannot use the app.

Thanks,

Jon

We had our hands full with our last big update. We will try to squeeze this into our release this week. It appears to be Android 13 related.

If you are on this thread and do NOT have Android 13 please let us know.
