The return to home during automated missions uses the smart RTH feature. This basically says that the aircraft knows how much power it needs to get back and will head for home as soon as that amount of power is reached. This radius is highly affected by the quality of the calibration of the batteries. Make sure all batteries are regularly calibrated to ensure accurate return return to home distances.
