Pause during flight

Yesterday I had a flight pause and hold midflight for no apparent reason. the STOP and RETURN HOME buttons had no effect on the UAV. Mission was about 1/2 way through the first battery, had collected about 200 images and then just stopped mid flight on a leg and hovered.

Ended up closing MPP, launching DJI app and using return to home to bring the craft back. Checked it over, nothing obviously wrong, switched battery, relaunched MPP, after reuploading flight plan, UAV returned to the point where it had stopped flying, and happily continued on for the balance of the mission collecting an additional 350 images and with no other issues. Mission ended with the UAV returning to home point as normal and landing dead center on the landing pad.

Not sure what the issue is that might have caused this. Have not had it happen before. MPP and DJI software all current as is iOS.

The error was likely shown in the Aircraft Errors panel:

This issue is almost always related to the Vision System but in this case you were getting a lot of errors saying the following:

"Drone is tilted. Please keep the drone stationary and level before flight". This indicates there was something making the IMU unhappy.

But what stopped your flight was this error:

"Gimbal module disconnected / dji_check_center_rc_disconnected / Camera module disconnected / MC connection to the center board has failed"

This is not a good error and is usually a sign of onboard hardware issues. When these were encountered it kicked you out of programmed flight mode. Inspecting the Aircraft Errors panel and hitting the RTH button on the remote would have been the appropriate course of action. Using the DJI app is another valid option.

You might want to keep a closer eye on that panel so hopefully you can see a pattern or figure out why your aircraft would be reporting this.

All of these errors are available after the fact from the DJI Diagnostic column of the CSV log files.

Thanks for the quick reply. There is definitely an issue, with the "IMU is unhappy" statement, I attempted to calibrate the IMU and calibration keeps failing due to "Temperature out of Safe Calibration Range" and this is while attempting to calibrate in a 68 degree room.

Guessing that there is a hot component on the "center board"

If it has been on for a long time inside on a table things can get pretty hot. Let it cool down or put a fan on it for indoor work.
