looking for drone

i've entered my mission but map pilot doesn't see my drone. I have the drone setup in the system settings. Like flying with the DJI app, I'm connected to the controller with my new IPAD and I start up the controller.

Please help as I'm obviously doing something wrong and I'm planning on flying my mission tomorrow as the weather is finally favorable.

First of all, make sure all other drone related apps are FULLY closed. If the light on your controller is green it means it is linked to the aircraft. At that point you should be able to connect to your aircraft with the app as long as the app has been registered.

You need to open the layout screen at least once while on the internet so the app can register with DJI. It will say "Registering" at the top until this happens. It will not connect to the aircraft until it says "Looking for Drone".

I never saw the "registering" happening in the screen, but it does say "looking for drone" but nothing happens. It never finds itself. And when I save my mission, it doesn't say downloading to the drone...

Am I missing a step?

You figured it out via email but I want to post the issue here for others that might have a similar problem.

On the Mavic controllers you have to unplug the charging cable from the side charging port to connect to the big USB connector on the bottom with the RC.

If I might add to this, as I was having a similar issue.

My DJI app was fully closed and yet Maps Made app still was ‘Looking for drone’.

I found the only thing thing that worked was setting Maps Made to be the default app to load when connecting the phone to the controller or when the controller was turned on. Previously I would load Maps Made app and connect the controller and it would ask if I wanted to give permission, which I would, but this didn’t seem to matter. I believe without it being default, it would still try to make some connection to the DJI app in the background.
