Serious issues with map pilot using Matrice 100

I was trying to fly at 45m altitude. I loaded a previous mission created in the last version of the app. Is there a way I can turn off the slow down due to light. This just made map pilot not useable for me a long with the altitude issue. It's bright days here and mapping a forest it's way to slow to be useful now. 

This is why speed adjustments for the user are nice. We're switching to drone deploy as we had jobs planned for tomorrow. With this app our pre planned flights which may take 15 minutes we could show up and it would turn out to a 30 minute flight. This is unacceptable especially since the matrice doesn't work with flight plans and multiple batteries. 

We will likely add a setting to turn this feature off in the future but is is there for the user's protection. If you are flying at 45 m and expecting 2cm/px resolution but are flying too fast for the conditions and getting 10cm of ground smear, you might as well be flying at 200 meters.

If you are concerned about coverage, fly higher to match the ground smear to your GSD and you will better off all around.

The goal of Map Pilot is to make it easy to take great data. We see so many jobs come through our system we know what is and is not working for people.

We realize that these are new concepts to people and don't expect everyone to understand the utility right away but this is how aerial mapping data has been taken for years. We are here to help, not cause frustration.

Can I go back a version?  

The only reason we are flying at 45m altitude is because of regs. We don't need 2cm gsd for this job. More like 10cm gsd. What's more important is that it's done quickly. 

The today I did not seem to have the altitude issue. Only the speed issue. Can I speed up the craft by using a uhs3 sad card? Is there any setting I can adjust so the craft doesn't slow down so much?

You cannot downgrade to previous version in the App Store.

Yours is an interesting case where you don't really seem to care about smearing and will be taken into account in the future. We hope to submit a version that has settings to inhibit the light based speed setting and the display of cached missions soon. It will likely be 2 weeks before it is available.

The U1 SD card setting will allow you to fly the fastest. That operates at 1 image every 2.5 seconds. The Class 10 setting changes that interval to 3 seconds.

A workaround that would likely be OK for you would be to use the jog wheel on the top right of the remote to manually adjust the exposure. Putting this to a higher setting like 1/500 or more will trick the app into thinking it is brighter and it won't slow it down. Make sure to put it back to where it was right as you get to the flight path so your images aren't black though...

I can make that work for now until the app is updated. So if I understand you correctly I would adjust the exposure when I take off and leave it until the speed screen pops up and it adjusts the speed. As soon as that is done I would change the exposure back to the same level as when it started up.  Is that correct?

In future updates will there be a faster speed setting for UHS 3 cards? We only use Sandisk extreme pro.

You have it. We are basically taking an average of all the exposure times recorded from the time the aircraft leaves the point overhead to when it is almost all the way to the start point.

We will likely be adding a 2 second image setting for the fastest cards.

Ill test eat the work around right now. 

We just tested it and the workaround works. Use the dial to turn the exposure compensation down to -3.0 which should knock the exposure time down quite a bit. Set it back to 0 (or wherever you like it) after you get the speed adjustment warning.

Does it only effect spreed in auto exposure or does it effect shutter priority as well?

Also the antenna direction indicator in this update appears to be Broken. It has me facing the wrong direction

Shutter priority locks the shutter speed and varies the ISO to accommodate lighting changes so it won't likely move the shutter value since it is the priority. Changing ev will probably just move the ISO around which won't help to slow the aircraft down.

So if I am understanding you correctly. To shut off the craft slow down feature I should be running it on shutter priority mode. Is that correct? The feature to turn off the slow down already exists?

It will still slow it down according to whatever speed you have the exposure time set to. To minimize the effect as much as possible, run in automatic mode and use the dial to change the exposure time to as short a time as possible during the time period that Map Pilot is taking the average over.

If you have it set to 1/100 in Shutter Priority it will still likely slow the aircraft down.
