Weird Error

Today we were doing some testing of the app over some young trees. The wind was quite strong and the temperature was near 0 celsius. We keep the batteries warm and didn't have any issues flying, however when the inspire was coming home after completing part 1 of 2 for a mission, we got some odd behaviour. The drone went from 20% battery to 5 very rapidly which usually indicates the battery is getting cold and it fails fast. We got it to land safely and changed the battery to a fresh, warm one. When we attempted to resume the mission (something we have done over 50 times previously in testing so we know the procedure) it refused to resume and gave an error that the distance between waypoint 0 and 1 was greater than 2000m. This was not the case as we were flying a very small area with 90% overlap. We had to wipe the mission and create a fresh one to complete the area. It seemed that the auto land sequence was the trigger but we are not sure. Any help would be appreciated

Hmmm... First off, our development team is in San Diego and we have never actually flown in any temperatures below 10C or so. We have almost no experience with that kind of battery issue. All I can say is that we use the standard DJI SDK methods for retrieving the battery state. This issue probably happens with DJI Go as well.

That 2000m error is a weird one... That error is generated by the DJI SDK and has been thrown randomly a few times for us in the course of testing. That is a newish constraint that they put in the SDK recently and it seems they have quite a few conditions that get reported as other errors still. My guess would be that it was some battery related error that gave the same code that triggers that flight path error. We are told that constraint might not be in the next firmware release but can't confirm that yet.

Sorry to hear about the issue though. Rerunning data sucks. Especially when it is cold...

No worries we ran the inspire last year down to -25 C with no issue but will gladly continue being the cold weather test team haha. I will keep track and report if we encounter the problem again as we are now setup to mirror and record the iPhone or iPad every time we fly...should help diagnose any future issues. Cheers and thanks for such a fantastic product!!
