اتباعPoor Quality Map
Can you please take a look at my map titled
20250424_Oaks_Marketplace
I used a DJI Air 2S at 200' AGL (over 300 images) but the quality is terrible. I looked at the Overlap Report and something seems off. I'm trying to move off of WebODM but I need to build my trust in MME first. Please help. Terry Stafford

Poor quality inputs lead to poor quality maps. It looks like you had pretty minimal overlap (roughly 70%) and the whole scene was not able to be reconstructed. The northern potion was filled in using the Flat Map Failover to at least give you something. You can read more about that here:

Please review the Data Collection guidelines that are agreed to at the time of upload before collecting more data. Here are some things in that this dataset did not follow.
Use at least 75% overlap. You want your whole overlap report to be dark blue (16+ views). Yours had lots of 10 and 11X spots in it.
Don't map at solar noon. This dataset was collected exactly at solar noon and has a strong sunspot (probably the thing that affected this processing the most).
Minimize motion. As you travelled along the road there are cars that basically traveled right with the aircraft. This didn't help. Try to orient your flights to go across areas where there is motion to at least mix it up.
For any sort of professional work it is always best to collect data using 80% overlap to ensure you have plenty of views and have a good chance of not having to revisit a site.

Okay. Thank you. I will study the article and try it again. I used Dronelink but will try Map Pilot Pro next time, which is probably irrelevant, I know. Thanks for your help.
Also, I have heard many "experts" say to fly mapping missions at noon to minimize shadows. So, in this case, that was intentional. So much for the experts.
It depends what you are trying to do. Changing the features between images is bad. You could potentially map at solar noon if you used a circular polarizing filter to block the back reflections but I doubt the added cost and complexity is worth it. You are still going to have shadows unless you are in the tropics. The shadows at 1.5-2 hours off of solar noon are only going to be marginally larger or more distracting than what you would get at noon.

Lots of users that use other services for their processing use Map Pilot Pro because it gives more overlap and more accurate results.
