Accuracy of stockpile volumes without GCPs

In doing some tests of my own with stockpile volumes and the accuracy of using photogrammetry (pix4d), Im finding that the stockpile volumes are pretty close to known volumes. I have not been using manual GCPs, only manual tie points. I get similar results between using the Phantom 2V+ and the P3P. I typically use the MME app for image collection with the P3P. It seems that the GCP's are only really needed when trying to pin the model to a specific place on a map...not necessarily for the relative volume of a particular stockpile. Are you seeing the same thing? I see you are not using GCP's for your volumetric tool either. Have you seen pretty accurate results when getting volumes on a known volume pile?

Your assessment is correct. In Maps Made Easy, GCPs only affect the alignment of the reconstructed model to the real world. The Camera GPS workflow will create the most accurate 3D models from which the volume measurements are made.

We haven't made it an option on the manual workflows simply because of the minimal amount of jobs that get run that way. If you have DJI gear, you should be using the EXIF based workflow. We expect to open it up to the other workflows in our next release.

We have gotten reports that our numbers are well within 1% of the readings people are getting using Pix4D or Agisoft.
