I'm very new to this. We are flying to New Hampshire from Arizona in a couple days to do some planning on a residential lot we own. I will only be there for a couple days and would like to get a map mission flown. I set up a mission flying my mini 2 at 170 ft with 90 overlap grid. Is this overkill? It looks like 1600+ images and about an hour of flight time for about 7 acres. I don't want to overkill but don't want to be back 2k miles away wishing I had done something differently. Oh the lot is heavily treed and has about 150 feet of altitude variance. Thank you for any suggestions.
90% is generally going to be too much overlap for almost any application. That will equate to giving the system 80+ views of everything in the scene when usually only 25 or so are needed.
80% is a good starting point. If there are bare trees you can step it up to 82 or 83%. Consider 85% the most you would want to use.
Be sure you are using the Terrain Awareness feature to keep your overlap even in the changes in elevation.
