Return Home

I had a question regarding the paragraph below about RTH:

"To combat this, all terrain aware flights will automatically adjust the Return to Home height to be 60 meters higher than the highest altitude encountered in the current flight path (if possible). Even if the aircraft is right next to the takeoff location when this occurs and is only 60 meters over head, it will ascend to higher than the highest point, come home and descend."

Is there a way for the software to use terrain following like it does during a flight when RTH is activated instead of of flying "60 meters higher than the highest altitude encountered"?

Nope! Once an RTH event (button push, timeout, battery power) is triggered the aircraft is no longer using waypoints to fly anymore. Its job is to get home. No fancy flying is available anymore.

If you can't have that happening you will have to break your mission up into smaller segments that can be completed on a single battery without interruption which would allow it to follow the terrain throughout the flight.

I don't actually think the number is 60 meters anymore. I think it is the value in the RTH offset in the settings on top of the highest encountered terrain.
