Would you be able to provide a world file that would be included with the geotiff download? I use Carlson Survey 2016 with AutoCAD and to import a geotiff to world files you need a separate world file.
The GeoTiffs we generate all have the geographical data embedded in them per the GeoTiff standard. World Files are only needed when you have an image that doesn't have that data available.
Most of our users don't have issues with opening them in AutoCAD as long as the appropriate extensions are installed.

i am curious as well, the program (Carlson) does appear just to support the world file option. when you stitch together an image, and its a great image at that, you provide a 100 different download scenarios and file types, is there not a way you can just include the world file option? i don't see Carlson supporting the embedded GeoTiff at the present time.
You can open the embedded GeoTiff images that we create in QGIS and save the auxiliary world file if you need it.
