Metric Units

So far I have loved using maps made easy. I have already created a half dozen really useful maps, and have found the website great for sharing maps without users having to download data.
But I live outside the USA and we metric units! I am sure you are working on it, but I would love a metric unit option for units in my public maps.

You can change the units for your maps by going up to Account in the top right corner and selecting Profile. From there, you can make sure the "Use Metric Units" checkbox is checked. This setting will persist through all of your publicly shared maps.

Hi Tudor
Being in New Zealand, we also use metric units (meters and km). I changed the units to metric under my profile. However there is no Save button on that form and the change does not seem to persist. When I open my trial/ public test map, measurements default back to yards. I am using Chrome browser v 47.0.2526.111 m.

I notice the same thing is happening when I activate/ enable the Public Annotation View option and the Enable Public Measurement Tools options under the Sharing section. None of these options are saved when the URL is published. Have I missed something here? Thanks.

There is no "Save" button but you do have to click the green check that shows up next to the empty checkbox to accept the change. Yes, we know this control is not standard, but it works well for single item changes helps for triggering some hidden features.
