Adjusting for terrain elevation

I'm going to run a mission at 200 feet, where the last leg is up against a hill. The difference from start point to the last leg in elevation is 81 feet higher. If I understand correctly, prior to starting the last leg I must increase the altitude before flying the last leg to 281 feet to maintain the same height above ground for mapping images?

You can't adjust the flight altitude on a per pass basis using the Map Pilot app. The overlap planning is calculated using the elevation of the takeoff point. Running up a hill will reduce the distance from the aircraft to the ground resulting in a smaller image spot and reduced overlap. If you plan it at 60% overlap and reduce the ground to aircraft distance by half, you will get get half the overlap, or 30%. That isn't enough to process. If you plan it at 90%, that will only go down to 45% which is marginal at best.

If you are flying by hand, you can try to stay the same distance above the ground but it gets really hard to maintain consistent overlap.

When it doubt, err on the high side. The only thing more annoying that having too much data is not having enough.

Ok, looks like maintaining a high degree of overlap should be my main concern. I'll do several passes. Thanks Tudor.

In the future, can you introduce a new tool to modify the waypoint altitude to be able to fly parallel with the ground?

As of today version 2.1.0 is available with the Terrain Awareness feature. This feature keeps the aircraft a uniform distance from the ground to keep the GSD and overlap consistent. It enables high quality mapping of areas that are not flat.
