2D vs 3D for volume measurements

Maps Made Easy only supports measuring the volume in the 2D image on our site. Using the 3D models directly will likely be more accurate in specialized 3D software since the base surface calculation would be more flexible. The 2D measurement creates a second order polynomial surface based on all of the measurement polygons points. That is why we recommend using lots of points to get that surface as representative as possible.
